Description:
Slave 1 is my first Maze Runner robot, named after my favorite Star Wars character's space ship. My dad did most of the machine work, making the body out of aluminum and using a Radio Shack PCB to make the circuit board. The controller is a BX-24 and the display is a serial 2x16 LCD unit from NetMedia. The servos are Futaba 3004's that have been hacked for continous rotation and variable speed control. The wheels are also from NetMedia. For the Novice maze Slave 1 simply relied on bumper contact to find the walls and navigate through the maze. My dad did the low-level programming and I did the code that makes the robot turn and the menu displays. By using 2 IR floor sensors (QRB1134) mounted side by side, Slave 1 can also do line following.
