PAReX Meeting Notes
A note from Bob Pitzer:
"Congratulations to all that entered the competition!!!
The event was a lot of fun and we only expect it to get better.
Everyone who entered the competition had a right to be proud.
I've been to quite a few robot competitions and half of the time the robots never move under their own power.
Everyone who entered had a moving autonomous robots. That's impressive!
We had a total of 8 robots! That's more than many college competitions.
I hope that everyone who was present shows up for the next meeting, from talking to people it looks like we will
have a few more robots and I know the current ones will only get better.
Hope to see everyone at the next meeting which will be announced on the meeting page here soon."
Club Organization: Tax-Exempt Status (501c) was discussed, I will be researching what is necessary
for this and will report back on this at or before the next meeting.
Meeting Locations: Bob Pitzer was discussing the possibility of getting some space at ASU,
I will see what I can do as far as a room at DeVry. Meeting Schedule: PAReX meetings are typically
to be held on the first Friday of the Month, this last meeting was the exception as the
holiday season can wreak havoc on club schedules. TV Appearance: While Channel 3 was unable
to attend the last meeting, I will be playing the video I shot on Amateur TV here in Phoenix
on Wed Jan 20th during or immediately after NetNight. The AATV Wednesday Night Net starts
at 7:30 PM. (To get the pictures all you need is a Cable ready TV and an outside antenna,
point the antenna at Shaw butte and turn the TV to CABLE channel 57)
Guest Speaker: Thanks to Dan Danknick for the presentation on Embedded systems and applications
with regards to his work with Disney Imagineering. The discussion was informative and entertaining,
the display of the embedded PC system was impressive, and how it all links together was interesting.
I felt Dan balanced his presentation well between the technical and the conceptual aspects of
embedded systems, So everybody from the applications engineers to the casual roboticist got
something from his presentation. Additional thanks for bringing along "Agrippa"
Very Impressive robot you’ve got there Dan!
